RACES OF ELVES

Dark elves

This type of elf is considered to be in a lower class than the high elves. The ones that got corrupted by Morgoth turned into orcs. They are also known as the Moriquendi. These elves never saw the light of the two trees.

Deep elves

The Deep elves have a lot of knowledge and are very wise. They were the creators of the the three elven rings of power. Aule the smith taught them much during their time in Aman. They are also called the Noldor or people of Finwe, ancient lord of the elves who led them into Valinor.

High elves

High elves are known to be the most powerful of all elves. They were the first to reach the undyinglands known as Aman or valinor, the middle parts of the contitnent.

Silvan elves

The Silvan elves were the elves that gave up on the search of the undying lands and settled near Lothlorien and Greenwood. They live without leaders or kings that rule them.

Grey elves

The grey elves are also called Sindar elves. They are protected by the light and are very powerful. They are the highest out of all the elves and are also called elves of twilight. They are like dark elves.

Green elves

The Green elves are also known as the Laiquendi elves. They lived in Ossiriand, a place in east Beleriand and were invisible to the enemy. They weren't powerful compared to other types of elves but survived because of their great knowledge of their lands.

Sea elves

Falathrim elves are the other name of this type of elf. They lived on the coastlines of Beleriand and lived during the first age of the sun. They were very skilled shipbuilders also making them one of the first to make a ship to travel to the undying lands.

Fair elves

This type of elf is fairest and wisest of all the various elf races.

East elves

Elves that refused to go to the West were East elves. Forests Orome is where they lived.

West elves

Also known as Eldar elves they were forced to leave from the east and became known as West elves. (see east elves)

Light elves

These elves are also known as Calaquendi elves. These elves are known to be the greatest race of elves. They live in Valar and have very great knowledge of the world.
